The Moye-Rowley  lab is part of The University of Iowa Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, and is located in the Bowen Science Building on The University of Iowa campus.

The laboratory's research focuses on the molecular basis underlying the response of eukaryotic cells to environmental stress. We are using the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model organism for the cell and molecular biological response of eukaryotic cells to two different types of environmental challenges, cytotoxic drugs and oxidative stress. We have found that the cellular response to each of these stress regimens is modulated by the action of transcriptional regulatory proteins and often involves the expression of ATP binding cassette (ABC) transporter proteins. Our goal is to understand the transcriptional control of these stress-responsive gene as well as how the gene products that are encoded by these loci allow cells to tolerate environmental challenge.
